Description Textile manufacturers looking for a finish,
which gives water repellency without affecting the texture or
wearing characteristics of the fabrics, can use textile finish with
confidence. Textile finish is a dispersion of a reactive silicone
in white spirit which when applied to surfactant free fabrics,
laminates and leather, gives a high degree of water
repellency.
Advantages Textile finish used as water repellent gives the
processor the following advantages: - Premium water repellent
performance - Soft handle - Fabrics remain breathable hence
comfortable to wear - Versatile in application - Air drying
and does not require heat cure
Instructions for
Use When applied, the substrate
should be free from surface active agents. A variety of application
techniques can be used: for example, lick roller, padding, spraying,
immersion, etc. The required dosage will vary between substrates but
a typical range would be 0.75-1.5% by weight of active material.
Trials are recommended to optimise this level. After treatment, the
fabric should be dried to remove solvents. The water repellents
characteristics take about three days to reach an optimum but this
can be reduced by a short heat cure. As a special application,
textile finish can also be used as an excellent starting material
for formulating an anti-water stain treatment for carpets.
Storage and Safety Textile finish has a shelf life of one year in
sealed containers. Care should be taken to avoid water contamination
of material in store or in use. Opened containers should be resealed
tightly.
